Esparak Publications (also referred to as Esparak in Tehran) was a distinguished and influential Iranian publishing house that stood at the forefront of the country’s literary and cultural scene during the 1980s and 1990s. Under the leadership of Ali-Asghar Mehrabad (Kashani), the house earned a reputation for its rigorous editorial standards and commitment to avant-garde Persian literature, operating alongside prestigious names such as Markaz, Niloufar, and Noghreh. Esparak is notably credited with the first printing of Shahrnush Parsipur’s acclaimed masterpiece, Tooba and the Meaning of the Night (Tooba va Manay-e Shab), in 1990, and Reza Farrokhfal’s seminal collection of short stories, Ah, Istanbul (1989). By prioritizing both aesthetic production and intellectual depth, Esparak played a vital role in promoting modern literary fiction and remains a hallmark of a transformative era in Iranian publishing history.
