Sayeh Eghtesadinia

Sayeh Eghtesadi-Nia is an Iranian literary critic, researcher of contemporary poetry, editor, and writer, born on 31 December 1975 in Tehran. After studying mathematics in high school, she initially entered the field of applied physics, but left after two years and turned to Persian literature, earning a bachelor’s degree in that field. Alongside her studies, she completed professional courses in editing and translation at the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia and the Center for Scholarly Publishing, studying with prominent figures such as Ahmad Samii Gilani, Abolhassan Najafi, and Abdolhossein Azarang, which shaped her professional path in literary criticism and editing. In 2005, she joined the Academy of Persian Language and Literature, where she served in roles including assistant to Ahmad Samii Gilani, deputy of the Contemporary Literature Group, and editorial assistant for Nameh-ye Farhangestan. Her essays and reviews have appeared in literary journals such as Bukhara, Jahan-e Ketab, Negah-e No, Andisheh-ye Pouya, and Tajrobeh, and her candid, sometimes controversial commentary on contemporary poets has drawn considerable attention in Iran’s literary circles. Among her notable works are Both Poet and Poetry, Five Immersions and Other Essays on Forough Farrokhzad, and For and Against Editing, which reflect her analytical perspective, linguistic precision, and distinctive voice in contemporary Iranian literary criticism.
