Leila was born in Tehran in the first month of spring, 1977. She began her intellectual journey by weaving together literature and linguistics. Upon earning her Ph.D. in Cognitive Linguistics from Tehran University, her very first works in the late 1990s revealed a writer seeking to explore the “empty spaces” between words and to transcend the conventional traditions of storytelling.

 

Her intellectual quest led her from the heart of Iran’s academic circles to North Vancouver, Canada. As an active member of the International Cognitive Linguistics Association, she has navigated the complex intersection of cognitive poetics and creative writing, bridging cultural gaps through teaching and translating seminal theoretical texts.

Leila’s manifestation is defined by “norm-breaking” creativity. Her multimedia novels and award-nominated research, such as “The Discursive Functions of Silence,” showcase her mastery of intertextuality and visual narrative. Her work transforms the act of reading into an interactive experience, where silence speaks as loudly as words.
